shanghai resurrection

owing to the global pandemic, a turn of events have now precipitated and crystallized h27’s return to shanghai. we have already hosted two shows – one at a private residence and another a commercial space – and will be continuing to liaise and collaborate with spaces in presenting the best contemporary art the unique city of shanghai and china has to offer.

our current show Beautiful Changning Needs Your Support continues to run through August 15, 2020 featuring the black and white photography of Sebastian Correa, at Xingfu Lu 46 in the wine purveyor La Cava de Laoma.

on loop

on loop is a six-part, monthly exhibition series that will spotlight the work of one artist for one night alone.

inspired by the antithetical notion:

“In my beginning is my end.

[…] In my end is my beginning.”

derived from T.S. Eliot’s poem Four Quartets, each of the artist will explore dualities such as entrances & exits and comings & goings and arrivals & departures. while these experiences are often conceived of as ethereal and irreversible moments couched within larger narratives, they are constantly repeated and eternally returned to – even if the point of departure can never again be the same.

utilizing a range of mixed media, exhibitions are hosted in h27, a gallery space currently located in the heart of the former french concession. bespoke bites and brews – catered by local chefs – are developed in concert with the aesthetic of each evening.
